Mirel Lucien

Mirel is a name spoken carefully, by the few who speak it at all. A man of the resistance in a world ruled by an unforgiving Accord, he learned early that the most dangerous thing a person can inherit is a bloodline — and he spent his life trying to outrun his own.

He was a brother who protected, a father who vanished, a man who left behind little more than a sealed trunk, a woven tapestry, and a warning that would echo for years after he was gone. Those who loved him were never certain whether he had abandoned them or saved them. Perhaps it was both. With Mirel, it was usually both.

What little is known of him comes secondhand: that he moved through the underground like a man memorizing exits, that he loved fiercely and left without warning, that he carried a weight he would never name.

He stepped out of the story before most of it began. But names have a way of surfacing — and his was written deeper into the weave of things than anyone ever guessed.
